FSS Raises the Bar of
Station Leadership with Appointment of
Tim Maholm, Director of Training & Leadership
Development
Local leadership is the key to success.
Success in this business depends on the service
delivery partners' ability to provide skilled, local
leaders to effectively cultivate business
partnerships with airlines and motivate their team
members to be their very best.

Here are some other ways these important success
factors are being enhanced to ensure each station is
doing it the right way, every day.
Ascent: Leadership Development
as•cent əˈsɛnt [uh-sent] –noun
movement upward from a lower to a higher state,
degree, grade, or status; advancement
Ascent is the FSS leadership development program
aimed at enhancing the skill set of our local
station management. Local station management is
comprised of General Managers, various job function
Managers, Supervisors and Leads. Ascent first
analyzes the existing skill sets of our local
management groups, evaluates their existing job
performance and establishes a plan for enhancing
their future abilities. Ascent takes a holistic view
of the management employee and better equips them
for future success in the aviation support industry.
Enhanced Training Programs, Airline Tailored
In our effort to ensure we are doing it
the right way, every day, best
practices must be applied across all FSS airports.
Best practice training must be tailored to the
specific need sets of our airline partners. In
this effort, Tim is working alongside all of FSS'
nationwide airports to enhance FSS existing training
programs tailoring those programs to ensure the
specifics of each airline are well-defined and
incorporated.
Upcoming Training Programs for FSS Airports:
Integration with Quality Assurance
How do we ensure we do it the right way, every day?
We integrate FSS training with FSS quality
Assurance. Coming to an FSS airport near you
in the power punch of both Tim with his training
directives and Dan Ketchum, FSS Quality Assurance
Manager. By integrating these two roles along
with the leadership develop at the local airport,
FSS will ensure we do it the right way,
every day.
